Events Coordinator

The Lisbon Project is set on building a community that empowers and integrates migrants and refugees. We value relationship building in all that we do, and the Community Life Department is the central focus of making this happen through events, social gatherings, and regular excursions. You will be a vital member of a team that is making a meaningful impact on refugees and migrants in Lisbon.

As the Events Coordinator, you will be responsible for providing support in the planning of events and activities that promote diversity, inclusion, and integration. Your main role will be to coordinate events hosted at or by the Lisbon Project from start to finish and manage teams to do the same. Events include but are not limited to cultural evenings, cooking workshops and the celebration of special days such as LP’s birthday.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee assigned activities, support the development, coordination, management, and implementation processes to maximize participation and ensure participant satisfaction.

  • Work closely with the fundraising and communications team to understand the needs of the Project and get the information out to the public timeously.

  • Manage budget and ensure reimbursements are finalized.

  • Ensure all community members involved are well prepared and have a clear understanding of tasks prior to the event.

  • Create and supervise teams for event planning.

  • Be present at all relevant events for supervision and hosting.

  • Participate in team meetings related to the events at the LP and make notes regarding main agenda points and decisions made.

  • Support the manager in the supervision of data outcomes. Ensure that activities and attendances are properly tracked.



Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in leading, coordinating, and delivering effective programs.

  • Experience in event planning is favoured.

  • Detail-oriented and efficient.

  • Excellent verbal communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, and ability to create and maintain positive relationships.

  • Must have the ability to solve problems creatively and flexibly as they arise.

  • Cultural awareness and ability to interact with people from different cultures, genders, religions, and backgrounds.

Time Commitment: 15 hours a week in a hybrid model (at least once per week at the office) - Minimum 6 months.
