As the Legal Team Coordinator, you will be primarily responsible for leading and developing the Legal Clinic: by processing the requests for Legal Aid, scheduelling the legal consultations, as well as managing the cases together with the Pro Bono Lawyers. You will also be responsible for coordinating the Legal Team as well as helping the Legal Aid Program Manager run the program’s activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Filtering requests coming from the form of the Legal Aid Program and assessing whether they go to the Legal or the Bridge Team.
Coordinating Legal Clinics
Coordinate the development of articles and factsheets within the Legal Aid Program
Coordinate and supervise the work of the Legal Clinic Assistant, including regular check ins and collaborative case discussions.
Compile and send case details to the lawyers.
Assist lawyers with translation (EN-PT) and notetaking during legal clinics.
Assist lawyers with subsequent actions following legal clinics.
Case monitoring.
Review and discuss requests/cases with Legal Team and Program Manager.
Provide supervision to the Legal Clinic Assistant in managing the waiting list and prioritization.
Provide supervision to the Legal Clinic Assistant in coordinating the pre clinics.
Attend weekly meetings with Program Manager.
Provide support to the Program Manager and the Programs Director in the development and the implementation of policies.
Requirements
Fluent in Portuguese and English is mandatory.
Minimum Education Level: Law Degree (Masters is Preferred)
Writing skills in both languages.
Proficiency in rapid note-taking.
Excellent organisational skills.
Strong emotional intelligence and resilience in high-pressure situations.
Knowledge of the Portuguese legal system, law firms and foreseeing the needs of our community members.
Knowledge of working in a legal setting and ideally of immigration law in Portugal is a plus.
Dedication to serving immigrant communities with a sincere commitment to working on behalf of low-income immigrants and refugees.
Ability to build personal networks at a high level, resulting in securing new opportunities and strategic growth for the Legal Clinic and the Legal Aid Program in collaboration with the Program Manager.

Time Commitment: 20-25 hours/week, minimum of 6-months commitment (being present at the Lisbon Project office a minimum of twice a week).
