Portuguese Speaking Club Coordinator

The Lisbon Project is a non-profit organization that exists to protect and integrate the lives of migrants and refugees in the city of Lisbon. We are currently seeking a volunteer to assist in the Education Program as the program grows. Your primary responsibilities will be overseeing and managing the Portuguese Speaking Clubs.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Oversee the Portuguese Speaking Clubs; develop, coordinate, manage, implement and evaluate the program to maximize participation, outcomes and beneficiary satisfaction.

  • Measure the program’s performance using appropriate systems, tools and techniques.

  • Ensure that teachers are properly trained and capable for successful execution.

  • Ensure that there is a curriculum and that it is being followed by the teachers.

  • Supervise volunteer teachers and provide support as needed.

  • Source necessary resources, such as updating HR manager with volunteer needs and related job descriptions, interviewing and onboarding new volunteer teachers.

  • Support volunteer teachers by organizing teacher training with the Education Program Manager.

  • Accompany the classes to identify areas for improvement and ways to better assist teachers and students for a better overall experience.

  • Analyze feedback on courses together with program coordinator to identify areas for improvement.



Requirements



  • Fluency in English and Portuguese. Other language skills are valued.

  • Experience in teaching, preferably with some management experience.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including effective listening.

  • Leadership skills.

  • Detail-oriented and efficient.

  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work demands.

  • Responsible, reliable and committed person.

  • Cultural awareness and ability to interact with people from different cultures, genders, religions and backgrounds.

  • Teaching qualification is highly valued.

Time Commitment: 4 hours a week – Wednesdays 17:30 to 21:30 preferably, but can be discussed - Minimum 6 months.
