The Lisbon Project is a non-profit organization that exists to protect and integrate the lives of migrants and refugees in the city of Lisbon. We are currently seeking a volunteer to assist in the Education Program as the program grows. Your primary responsibilities will be overseeing and managing the Portuguese Speaking Clubs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Oversee the Portuguese Speaking Clubs; develop, coordinate, manage, implement and evaluate the program to maximize participation, outcomes and beneficiary satisfaction.
Measure the program’s performance using appropriate systems, tools and techniques.
Ensure that teachers are properly trained and capable for successful execution.
Ensure that there is a curriculum and that it is being followed by the teachers.
Supervise volunteer teachers and provide support as needed.
Source necessary resources, such as updating HR manager with volunteer needs and related job descriptions, interviewing and onboarding new volunteer teachers.
Support volunteer teachers by organizing teacher training with the Education Program Manager.
Accompany the classes to identify areas for improvement and ways to better assist teachers and students for a better overall experience.
Analyze feedback on courses together with program coordinator to identify areas for improvement.
Requirements
Fluency in English and Portuguese. Other language skills are valued.
Experience in teaching, preferably with some management experience.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills, including effective listening.
Leadership skills.
Detail-oriented and efficient.
Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work demands.
Responsible, reliable and committed person.
Cultural awareness and ability to interact with people from different cultures, genders, religions and backgrounds.
Teaching qualification is highly valued.

Time Commitment: 4 hours a week – Wednesdays 17:30 to 21:30 preferably, but can be discussed - Minimum 6 months.
