Volunteer Cook - community Life

summary:


Lisbon Project is looking for volunteer cooks to support our Community Dinner and other community events. Our meals are an important part of bringing people together. We want to create opportunities for people in our community to share food, cooking skills and recipes from different cultures. You don't need to be a professional chef. If you enjoy cooking and are happy to share your skills with the community, we'd love to hear from you.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Prepare a meal or dish for a Community Dinner or community event.

  • Share recipes, cooking techniques or food traditions from your culture.

  • Work alongside other volunteer cooks and the Community Life team.

  • Help create a welcoming and enjoyable experience around food.

  • Follow basic food safety, hygiene and kitchen guidelines.



Requirements:



  • Enjoy cooking and sharing food with others.

  • Are reliable when they commit to a cooking slot.

  • Are comfortable working as part of a team.

  • Are open to cooking and sharing food from different cultures.

  • Have a good understanding of basic food hygiene and safe food preparation.

Professional cooking experience is welcome but not required.

When applying for this position please add what kind of cooking you do enjoy (e.g african, asian, portuguese, ....) and how often you would be available realistically!

Also please be aware that most of our cooking events are on Wednesday, so availability on Wednesday evening is necessary!
