Culture and Learning Volunteer

Time Commitment: Minimum 6 hours per month for 6 months

Reports to: Education Program Manager and Culture and Learning Coordinator

Minimum Education Level: 12th grade / High School

Start date: As soon as possible


summary:


The Lisbon Project is a non-profit organization that exists to protect and integrate the lives of migrants and refugees in the city of Lisbon. We are currently seeking volunteers to assist in the Education Program as the program grows.  As a Culture and Learning Volunteer, you will play an active role in fostering inclusion through educational and cultural initiatives. Your main duties may include supporting the development of cultural activities, supervising the library, and/or creating and maintaining educational resources for our community members.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Learning Sector:

    • Ensure the accessibility and maintain the library organized;

    • Curate and update educational resources, including books, digital materials, and other learning aids;

    • Develop, plan and execute activities regarding the library and the needs of the community;

    • Identify and share valuable learning resources with the community and how to access them;

    • Work with the Education team in order to identify the needs of the language learners;

    • Creation of material for posts to share the library resources and activities;

    • Identify ways to improve the library experience based on the identified needs and the feedback received.


Requirements:


  • Fluency in English, having fluency in Portuguese is a plus. Proficiency in other languages is an advantage;

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an emphasis on effective listening; 

  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail for resource management;

  • Experience in education or a related field is a plus;

  • Cultural awareness and the capacity to interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds, cultures, religions, and genders;

  • A highly responsible, reliable, and committed work ethic;

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, fostering positive relationships within the learning environment.

  • Willingness to be added to Slack and all the relevant channels, following the information regularly
