Welcome Events Coordinator

Time Commitment: 15-20 hours per week - 6 Months Commitment

Reports to: Community Life Manager

Start date: July 2026

As the Lisbon Project´s Welcome Events Coordinator, you will have the exciting responsibility of welcoming new members as well as fostering a sense of community within the organization. Positioned within the Community Life Department, you will lead teams and weekly events that create a safe space for community members, team members and guests to interact together.  


We are looking for someone who is passionate about building community through positive inter-cultural communication and relationship building opportunities. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Organize and attend weekly Community Life activities (Family Friday and Community Dinner), to welcome newly registered Community Members and remain available to field queries and questions in-person. 

  • Encourage maximum Community Member engagement in LP opportunities while consistently clarifying boundaries of LP support and accurately managing Community Member expectations. 

  • Build and manage a team of volunteers that are highly motivated and equipped to fulfil wider department’s goals. 

  • Along with your team, be the first point of contact for Community Members and guests, as they navigate the LP services. 

  • Support Community Life Department in quarterly and annual reporting. 

  • Maintain accurate and regular updates of all activities and opportunities across the LP  

  • Be available to assist in the organizing and implementation of any Community Life activity that fosters relationship building. 

  • Attend and contribute to regular Community Life Team meetings in order to increase overall awareness of LP activities and processes. 

  • Respond with particular care and sensitivity to communication from people in moments of emotional distress while conveying the boundaries of LP support and managing expectations.

  • Following the minimum performance guidelines (MPGs). To be consulted internally with the position's supervisor.    


Requirements:


  • Fluent in English. Portuguese and other community languages are highly desirable. 

  • Proven experience in social care; social work qualification highly desirable. 

  • Experience in inter-cultural communication, conveying complex information effectively across cultural differences. 

  • Detail-oriented and efficient. 

  • Commitment to diversity, inclusion and the equal participation of team members. 

  • Strong interpersonal communication including the ability to motivate others. 

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team with enthusiasm, initiative and creativity. 

  • Must engage in regular direct contact with the community.
