summary:
As the Community Life Manager, you will lead the Community Life Program, a core division of the Operations Department focused on events and activities that promote diversity, inclusion, and integration. In this role, you will provide leadership and direction to the program, overseeing both the implementation of existing initiatives and the continued growth and development of Community Life.
You will inspire, train, and manage a team of volunteers who coordinate activities and events that build community and connection. Events include, but are not limited to, small group hangouts, cultural evenings, excursions, and celebrations such as the Lisbon Project birthday. You will play a key role in strengthening opportunities for cultural exchange, connecting locals with foreigners, and creating a safe and welcoming space of community.
You will be a vital member of a team making a meaningful impact on refugees and migrants in Lisbon. The Lisbon Project is committed to building a community that empowers and integrates migrants and refugees, and Community Life is central to this mission — bringing people together through relationships, shared experiences, and intentional community-building initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Project Management and Team Leadership
Oversee assigned activities, supporting in the development, coordination, management and implementation processes to maximize participation and ensure participant satisfaction.
Establish close communication with community members and volunteers about Community Life activities (i.e. workshops, dinners, outings).
Recruit, train and manage team members involved in leading regular group activities.
Check in, support and appreciate and /or correct team leaders regularly as needed.
Manage budget and ensure reimbursements are finalized.
Participate in team meetings related to the events and activities at the LP and make notes regarding main agenda-points and decisions made.
Manage partner relationships and develop creative strategies for partner inclusion in events and initiatives.
Event Planning
Plan and organize cultural and seasonal LP events.
Create and supervise teams for activities, events and workshops.
Ensure all community members involved are well prepared and have a clear understanding of tasks prior to the event.
Manage and oversee all event operations and from time-to-time attend activities for supervision.
Be responsible for event advertisement and follow up evaluations.
Database Management and Monitoring and Evaluating
Support director in the supervision of data-outcomes. Ensure that activities and attendances are properly tracked.
Maintain detailed records on the Lisbon Project's database and create channels for feedback and evaluation.
Contribute to regular reports for the directors and make recommendations for future program improvements.
Requirements:
Experience coordinating, planning, and managing events, including logistics, vendors, and on-site execution.
Fluent in English and Portuguese is highly desirable
Demonstrated experience in leading, coordinating and delivering effective programs.
Detail-oriented and efficient.
Excellent verbal communication skills.
Must be available to work outside standard office hours, including late evenings and some Saturdays.
Strong interpersonal communication skills, ability to create and maintain positive relationships.
Must have the ability to solve problems creatively and flexibly as they arise.
Cultural awareness and ability to interact with people from different cultures, genders, religions, and backgrounds.
