Kids Explore Coordinator

Time Commitment: 15 - 20 hours p/Week

Intern reports to: Community Life Manager

Summary:


Kids Explore is a regular creative social activity aimed at migrant and refugee school going children between the ages of 5 and 12 years old. As a Coordinator, you will be responsible for a variety of program related activities, such as planning social gatherings with the children, communicating with parents and building a team of volunteers. The social gatherings can include but are not limited to creative arts, local excursions, sports activities and more.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Planning and executing regular creative activities with kids between the ages of 5 and 12 years old.

  • Managing a budget and contributing to follow up reports to donors.

  • Build, training and motivating a team of volunteers.

  • Implement constructive communication plan with parents.

  • Keep supervisor informed with challenges and ideas.

  • Ensure safety of children at all times.

  • Be punctual and communicate if a problem arises.

  • Address inappropriate and disciplinary issues promptly.

  • Ensure that young people´s varying needs and interests are met.

  • Attend all relevant Lisbon Project meeting for volunteers.


Requirements


  • Must have experience and passion with working with children.

  • Must have the ability to creatively and flexibly solve problems as they arise.

  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work demands.

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, including effective listening.

  • Cultural awareness and ability to interact with people from different cultures, genders, religions, and backgrounds.

  • Fun, up-beat, and positive attitude.

  • Must be available on weekends.

  • Must engage in regular direct contact with the community.

  • Police Clearance Certificate required upon acceptance of application
