Job Preparation Mentor

Time Commitment: Minimum of 3-4 hours a week on Wednesdays for 6 months.

Reports to: Employability Program Manager

summary:


As a Job Preparation Mentor, you’ll play a key role in helping migrants and refugees navigate the job market in Portugal. You’ll provide one-on-one support, helping community members identify their skills, set career goals, and find job opportunities. By offering guidance on job search, CVs, job applications, interview preparation, and market trends, you’ll empower individuals to take the next step in their professional journeys.


Responsibilities:


● Meet with community members during a drop-in session to assess their skills, experience,

and career goals, offering tailored advice.

● Provide support during the job search process, from applications to interviews.

● Motivate and guide community members to explore job opportunities or career transitions.

● Contribute to the overall Employability Program, including resource development and group workshops (optional).


Requirements:


● Fluency in English (other languages are a plus especially Portuguese).

● A good understanding of the Portuguese job market.

● Ability to create a cover letter and CV

● Strong communication skills and cultural sensitivity.

● Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

● Good IT skills and familiarity with job platforms like LinkedIn and other job searching tools.

● Empathy, organisation, and a positive attitude.
